Making detailed patterns

In this hands-on workshop students will learn the techniques and thought processes for creating custom leather patterns from scratch using a pair of shoulder saddle bags as our real-world example with no prior experience required. The first half covers using AI to visualize and concept your project while the second half focuses on drafting the physical pattern on poster board. By the end you'll gain the skills and confidence to design patterns for any leather project you can imagine. Participants can choose active participation by bringing your own tools to draft along step-by-step or demo/observer mode to watch the instructor demonstrate take detailed notes ask questions and follow along visually without cutting or drafting.


Material student should bring:

Tools to bring: Razor blade, 2 pair of wing dividers, digital calipers, pencil, scratch awl, leather, cutting mat to protect surfaces during razor work, straightedge or metal ruler, scissors , eraser, strap cutter, tape, notebook pencil or pen, and headlamp or magnifier to help with detail work. If you prefer observer mode no tools are required—just watch take notes and ask questions.
